Do I need a referral?
No. You do not need a referral to see us or to claim for private health insurance. If you are making a WorkCover claim, Third Party, or Medicare EPC claim a Doctors referral is required. We do also like to see referrals from your GP if you have consulted them regarding your condition.
How long are appointments?
Initial appointments are 45 minutes with follow up appointments 30 minutes. We find that in the majority of cases this is the most appropriate amount of time. In more complex conditions, for multiple injuries or Scoliosis longer appointments are arranged.
What should I wear?
We recommend wearing suitable clothing for your assessment, for example shorts for lower limb and pelvic injuries and singlets for shoulder and neck problems. Alternatively, gowns are available.
Do I need to bring X-rays or medical notes with me?
Yes please! Any investigations, scans or doctors notes relating to the condition will help us understand you better. If you don’t have anything don’t worry.
Can the physiotherapist refer for X-rays?
Yes, physiotherapists may refer for X-rays without the need to see a GP.
What can I expect?
At Max Sports Physiotherapy our initial physiotherapy consults are approximately 45 minutes. Please arrive 5 minutes early to ensure time to fill in your consent form. We recommend wearing suitable clothing for your assessment, for example shorts for lower limb and pelvic injuries and singlets for shoulder and neck problems. Alternatively, gowns are available.
Follow up appointments, if required, are approximately 30 minutes. However, sometimes we may need you a little longer. Your physiotherapist will work with you to devise the best treatment plan.
Longer initial or standard consultations are available for treating more than one area or for Scoliosis specific Schroth physiotherapy.
